Silage is fermented, high-moisture fodder. Silage can be made from many different types of fodder. The most common types of silage are grass silage and maize silage. The purpose of silage making is to create a nutritious feedstock for the winter months. Both grass and maize silage are produced at 't Spieker. These are supplemented with concentrates and, where necessary, by-products (e.g. Brewer's spent grain).
